Hydrodynamic Performance Improvement of Double-Row Floating Breakwaters by Changing the Cross-Sectional Geometry

This paper is presented to develop the hydrodynamic performance of double-row floating breakwater (FBW) by changing cross-sectional geometry in high wave periods. The ANSYS-AQWA software employed for present calculations, which a potential-based boundary element method (BEM). rectangular moored pontoons single- and types are selected, results transmission coefficient response amplitude operator (RAO) compared. numerical showed good agreement with experimental data at different wavelengths, height, distance between FBWs. Then, FBWs five shapes (rectangular, π-shaped, plus-shaped, triangular-shaped, box-shaped) coefficient, RAO, mooring line tension compared each other. that plus-shaped FBW has better reducing than other shapes. In waves long periods, box-shaped reduced, loses its efficiency. Overall, preferable regarding RAO response, tension, transmission.
